The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is soon going to start adding PF interest to your account. The EPFO recently said that it can transfer 8.5 percent interest to its 60 million subscribers in their bank accounts by the end of next month.
More than 6 crore members of EPFO will get 8.5 percent interest in the financial year 2020-21. Let us tell you that due to the corona virus epidemic, there has been a huge decline in the profits of EPFO. Because of this, it was decided to give interest at the rate of 8.50% to PF account holders this year also.
In the financial year 2019-20 also, interest was received at the rate of 8.50%. Whereas, in 2018-19 it was 8.55% and in 2017-18 the interest rate on PF was 8.65%. Let’s know how you can know your PF balance sitting at home whether you got interest or not ..
You can check balance through SMS
1 If your UAN number is registered with EPFO, then your PF balance information will be received through message. For this you have to send EPFOHO to 7738299899. Your PF information will be available through message.
If you want information in Hindi language, then you have to send it by writing EPFOHO UAN. This service to know PF balance is available in English, Punjabi, Marathi, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali. For PF balance, it is necessary that your UAN, bank account, PAN and Aadhaar (AADHAR) should be linked.
What is UAN number- EPFO provides the service of Universal Account Number (UAN) through which account holders can check their PF account balance. This number is similar to that of a bank account.

Know balance through 2 missed calls – Give a missed call to 011-22901406 from your registered mobile number. After this, the details of PF will be received through the message of EPFO. Here also your UAN, PAN and Aadhar link is a must.
3 You can check PF balance online
1 Log on to the EPFO website. Click on E-Passbook at epfindia.gov.in
2 On clicking on e-passbook, a new page will be redirected to passbook.epfindia.gov.in.
3 Here you have to fill your User Name (UAN Number), Password and Captcha.
4 After filling all the details, you will come to a new page and here the Member ID will have to be selected.
5 Here you will get your EPF balance on e-passbook.
4 You can also check balance on UMANG app
Open your UMANG App (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) and click on EPFO.
You have to click on Employee-centric services on another page.
Click on View Passbook here. Enter your UAN number and Password (OTP) number. OTP will come to you on your registered mobile number. After this you can check your PF balance.
