Ajit Mishra, VP Research, had a long conversation with MoneyControl about Religare Broking, Market Status, Economy and Upcoming Budget. Here we are quoting this conversation. In this conversation, Ajit Mishra said that if you fall in the age group of 25-30 then a large part of your investment should be invested in equity and the rest in other asset classes.
Talking about the Union Budget 2022, he said that due to the complex revenue deficit situation and delay in meeting the investment targets, we do not expect the government to adopt a very popular approach in the forthcoming budget.
Asked if it was the right time to invest in the market after breaking about 10 per cent from a record high, he said that after strong gains, the market could see further declines. We haven’t seen any major improvements in the last two years. With the third wave of Covid in mind, many states have announced restrictions that could hurt market sentiment. At the same time, tightening monetary policy in all the major countries of the world has also increased the pressure on the market.

Like the benchmark index over the last two months, almost all sectoral indices except IT are under pressure. We believe that investors should take a “bottom-up” approach and buy quality stocks in gradual installments. He further said that after the recent collapse, the big banks in the private sector are looking very good in terms of investment. We will see their market share increase in the future.
About the IPO market, he said, the primary market generally follows the secondary market. There is an IPO line of around Rs 1 lakh crore for 2022. Where there are traditional companies as well as new age internet and technology based companies. We are confident that the primary market will continue to be strong in 2022. IPO of LIC, Ola, Byju’s, Delhivery, NSE is coming in 2022. Our advice to investors would be to invest in a good IPO with good valuation. Invest in an IPO with long-term benefits in mind, without focusing on listing gains.
