The controversy started with Hanuman Chalisa
Earlier this month, Ravi Rana requested Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to recite Hanuman Chalisa at his residence. It has also been announced that if the Chief Minister does not do so, he will recite Hanuman Chalisa in front of Matoshri on Saturday.
The Rana couple said on Friday that they would recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Bandra, the private residence of Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray, at 9 am on Saturday. However, Shiv Sena activists have reacted strongly to his announcement. Then on Saturday, Ravi Rana announced that he and his wife were canceling their plans so that there would be no law and order problem before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mumbai on April 24.
However, despite the Rana couple’s plan, Shiv Sena activists cordoned off the residences of Navneet Rana and Ravi Rana in the suburbs. He said they would not let Matoshri come out unless he apologized for insulting them (Shiv Sena workers) like a temple. Shiv Sena activists also tried to break through the police barricade in the morning but were stopped by police.
