The entire length of Kanpur Metro is 32 km and it is being constructed at a cost of Taka 11,000 crore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the entire section of the Rs 11,000 crore Kanpur Metro Rail project. After starting the train, he boarded the train at IIT Kanpur Metro Station and became the first passenger of this service. He took the metro from IIT metro station to Geeta Nagar.
Prime Minister Modi was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Kanpur Metro is going to be the fastest metro project in the country.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi also visited the exhibition of Kanpur Metro Rail Project. According to the official statement, the metro project will be completed in two phases and will have two corridors. The 32.6 km long corridor of Kanpur Metro Rail Project will have a total of 30 metro stations.
The statement said that the metro can carry 974 passengers at a time and the speed of the train will be 80 to 90 kilometers per hour. Accordingly, the length of the first corridor from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur to Nawabshah will be 24 km, while the second corridor from Chandrashekhar Azad Agricultural University to Barra-8 will be 8.6 km.

Metro service will be available daily from 8 am to 10 pm every day from Wednesday. Initially, tickets with QR codes will be available and later smart cards for passengers will also be introduced. Kanpur Metro with three coaches will run from IIT-Kanpur to Motijheel in priority section.
Due to its strict adherence to the Green Building Code and parameters, it is certified by ISO-14001 certification for environmental management and ISO-45001 certification for safety management. The entire section is built according to the Green Building Code, which makes it environmentally safe.
On November 15, 2019, CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the civil construction work of Kanpur Metro. The trial run of Metro was held on November 10 this year. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi also attended the 54th convocation of IIT Kanpur as the chief guest.
