Sulabh had written a letter to ADG Prayagraj two days before his death, alleging that the liquor mafia was unhappy with his news reporting and that his life was in danger. However, the police is treating the death of the journalist as an accident.

According to the information, after covering the story of the arrest of criminals by the team of Sulabh Crime Branch, they were coming back on their motorcycle, during which they allegedly met with an accident. The road on which Sulabh was found lying is said to be slippery due to rain, which probably caused his motorcycle to slip, injuring his head. Sulabh was taken to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The incident happened between 10 pm and 11 pm on Sunday night.

A police team later visited the accident spot and initially found that the bike had slipped. collided with a pole and a hand pump. We are probing the matter.”

A war of words has broken out in the state due to the death. AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted, targeting the UP government, “Liquor mafia from Aligarh to Pratapgarh: create orgy of death across the state. Uttar Pradesh government silent. Journalists should expose the truth, warn the administration of danger. Govt. Have you slept. Does the UP government, which nurtures Jungle Raj, have any answer to the tears of the family members of journalist Sulabh Srivastava?”

Samajwadi Party spokesperson and MLC Sunil Singh Sajan has also pulled up the state government over the issue. He said, “Even after giving written information to the ADG police in Pratapgarh, the police are not able to give any protection to the journalist who writes against the liquor mafia. Mahant of the BJP government who worships criminals, rapist Yogi Adityanath, what aap kis mukh. Going to other states and speaking on unrighteousness?”
