New Delhi: With just a few days to go before filing an income tax return for the 2021-22 financial year, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has given a big relief. CBDT extends e-filing ITR verification deadline for fiscal year 2020-21. Explain that every earner has to file an income tax return (ITR).

E-verification can be done till 26th February

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadline for ITR verification to 28 February 2022. We tell you that in order to complete the process of income tax return, after filing ITR, you need to e-verify. If the ITR is not verified within the stipulated time, it will be considered invalid.

This is how you can e-verify ITR

1. Through Aadhaar OTP
2. Login to e-filing account through net banking
3. EVC through bank account number
iv EVC through demat account number
v. EVC through Bank ATM
vi Post by sending the signed copy of ITR-V to CPC, Bangalore

How to e-verify ITR through Aadhaar

Step 1: To access your e-filing account, visit
Step 2: Select the e-Verify Return option under the Quick Link.
Step 3: In this, select the verification using OTP on the mobile number registered with Aadhaar. Then click on the E-Verify screen.
Step 4: Select ‘Agree to verify Aadhaar details’ checked on Aadhaar OTP screen. Then click on Generate Aadhaar OTP.
Step 5: After entering the 6-digit OTP sent to your Aadhaar-registered mobile number, click Verify.
Step 6: Note that this OTP is only valid for 15 minutes. You will be given three chances to enter the correct OTP. You will also see an OTP expiration countdown timer on the screen, which will notify you when an OTP is received. Where you click Resend OTP a new OTP will be created and you will receive it.
Step 7: Now a page with success message and transaction ID will appear. Keep the transaction ID secure for further use. A confirmation message will also be sent to the e-mail and mobile number you entered in the filing portal.

December 31 is the last date to file ITR

Let us tell you that the last date for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) for the financial year 2020-21 is 31st December. Earlier, the last compliment for filing an ITR was doubled. For the first time it was extended from 31st July to 30th September and then from 30th September to 31st December. All income taxpayers are required to file an ITR before the December 31 deadline.
