In a conversation with journalist Ali Peter John, Mithun Chakraborty said that he was once with the Naxalite ideology. However, an accident in his family changed his life. Mithun was born on 1 July 19 July 5 in a lower-middle class Bengali family. In the 1960s, Bengal was dominated by the far-left ideology and Mithun also carried that extremist ideology. The Naxal movement was founded because of this ideology. Like Mithun, thousands of Bengali youth were also involved in this movement.

But the death of his brother in the accident moved him and he began to question the ideology of establishing an ideal society based on violence and weapons. Mithun Chakraborty started thinking of separating himself from the movement from this time.
