Injustice done to England and Indian women’s team, ECB apologizes for growing controversy

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has not given a fresh pitch but a used pitch for the upcoming Test between India and the England women’s cricket team. After which now the ECB has apologized for its mistake.

Bristol: The pitch, which is to be used for the one-off Test match between India and England women’s cricket team starting on Wednesday, is not new but old and has already been used. The T20 Blast match between Gloucestershire and Sussex was played on this pitch five days ago. This is not a fresh pitch but a used pitch.

ECB apologizes

However, now the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has officially apologized for this. The ECB said, ‘We are all disappointed that 37 overs were played on the wicket for the Test match against India. We know England women deserve a new wicket and we regret that we were unable to provide it in this instance.

The match between Sussex and Gloucestershire was played on this pitch on Friday, in which Sussex won by five wickets.

England captain scolded

England women’s cricket team captain Heater Knight has said that it is not right to play on a used pitch. He said, ‘I have seen the pitch, it is a used wicket. This pitch was used for the Gloucestershire T20 match last week, which I think is by no means the ideal pitch for a Test match. We wanted that we would get to play fresh pitch. Now I don’t know how the pitch I got will behave.

Mithali Raj stealing in this case

However, Mithali Raj, the captain of the Indian women’s team, thought it better to remain silent on this matter.

He said, ‘We have come here to play a match. Whatever strip we get, we try and get the result. This is our idea. Be it a used wicket or a fresh wicket… create’.
