The fourth 2 + 2 ministerial level talks between India and the United States took place on Monday. US-India 2 + 2 US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Indian Foreign Secretary Dr. S. Jayashankar and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held ministerial-level talks in Washington. The ministers of both the countries discussed the situation in and around Afghanistan.
Foreign Minister S Jayashankar said how to ensure a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific was also on our agenda. We talked about events in and around Afghanistan. Recent events in the Indian subcontinent were also included in our conversation.
He said that it was a great pleasure for him to participate in the 4th 2 + 2 Ministerial Dialogue between India and the United States. The goal of the 2 + 2 format is to further consolidate our partnership. It has become increasingly relevant as the scope and intensity of our partnership continues to grow.
S Jayashankar further said that the important center of our partnership is related to the Indo-Pacific region. We have seen the quad reach new heights by working hard in the last one year. Our achievements in this regard have been widely reflected.
At the same time, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said of the talks that we are expressing our desire for co-development and co-production with American companies and urged US defense agencies to invest more in the defense industry corridors of Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Is
“We are also making progress in implementing the COMCASA (Communication and Security Agreement) and the BECA (Basic Exchange and Co-operation Agreement),” he said. “I have invited American companies for defense, space and the Make for India and World programs,” Rajnath said.
“Significant progress has been made in the defense space and the Defense Artificial Intelligence Dialogue, as well as in many other initiatives and agreements to further expand the scope of our military expansion in the future,” he said.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh further said that a ‘Space Situational Awareness Agreement’ between the Indian Space Department and the US Department of Defense has also been finalized. “Our partnership is crucial for peace, stability and development in the Indo-Pacific and Indian Ocean regions,” he said. During the meeting we shared our assessment of our neighbors and the Indian Ocean region.

At the same time, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd James Austin said that we are expanding our cooperation in cyberspace through training and practice later this year. Defense, trade and technology cooperation between the two countries continue to grow.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken says our scientists and organizations are working together to create a safe and effective covid vaccine. We are working with our partners in Australia and Japan to make the vaccine available across the Indo-Pacific through the Quad Vaccine Partnership.
