PM Modi and Denmark PM Mette Frederiksen held ‘fruitful’ talks on Saturday to enhance cooperation in key areas such as health, agriculture, water management, climate change and new and renewable energy.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen held fruitful talks on Saturday and both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of health, agriculture, water management, climate change and renewable energy. After this dialogue, PM Modi said that both sides reviewed the progress made under the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership and discussed further expansion of cooperation in many areas.
4 agreements were signed between the two countries
During this interaction, the two sides also signed four agreements in the areas of science and technology, climate change and skill development. Prime Minister Modi said, ‘A year ago today, we took the historic decision to establish a Green Strategic Partnership between India and Denmark. This is a symbol of the far-reaching thinking of both our countries and respect for the environment.

The agreement on green partnership was reached in a digital conference held between the Prime Ministers of India and Denmark. It aims to create a framework for expanding cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, environment, economy and science and technology. Describing this dialogue as ‘fruitful’, PM Modi said that both sides have committed to continue to expand the scope of cooperation and keep adding new dimensions to it. We have started a new partnership in the field of health. In order to increase agricultural productivity and farmers’ income in India, we have also decided to cooperate in technology related to agriculture. Under this, work will be done on technology in areas like food security, cold chain, food processing, manure, fisheries.

Told Modi an inspiration for the world
During this, Danish Prime Minister Fredriksson in her address praised Modi for promoting green technology and called him an ‘inspiration for the world’. “I am proud that when there are very ambitious goals, Danish solutions play a major role and I believe you are an inspiration to the rest of the world,” he said. You have set many ambitious goals when it comes to renewable energy including clean water and wind power for one million households. The cooperation between India and Denmark is a great example of how green development and green change can go hand in hand.
Fredrickson has come to India on a three-day visit
Frederickson said the two sides have decided to further strengthen cooperation in the health and agriculture sectors. Let us tell you that Fredrickson arrived in New Delhi on Saturday morning on a three-day visit to India, where she was received by Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi shared a photograph of PM Modi and Frederiksen at the venue of the talks at Hyderabad House, tweeting, “Progressing the Green Strategic Alliance between India and Denmark, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen. Last year the meeting was held through online
It is noteworthy that India and Denmark had established a ‘Green Strategic Alliance’ in the summit meeting held through digital medium on 28 September 2020 and now both sides will also discuss regional and multi-level issues of mutual interest.

Frederickson went to Rajghat and paid floral tributes at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi. After this, Fredriksson was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan where the Prime Minister of Denmark inspected the guard of honor.
S Jaishankar welcomed by tweeting
Let us tell you that before the talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had met Frederickson. After meeting her, S Jaishankar tweeted, ‘Welcome to the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Fredriksson on her first visit to India. Our Green Strategic Alliance will further grow as a result of this. Fredrickson is on a visit to India from 9 to 11 October.
India and Denmark have strong trade and investment ties. More than 200 Danish companies are present in India, while there are more than 60 Indian companies in Denmark. The two countries have strong cooperation in renewable energy, clean technology, water and waste management, agriculture and animal husbandry, science and technology, digitization, smart cities, shipping sectors.
