IAS Officer Garima Agrawal Success Story: Garima Agrawal did an internship in Germany after engineering from IIT Hyderabad, but she did not work abroad and decided to come to the country and prepare for UPSC. Garima became an IPS in her first attempt and then in the second attempt she went on to become an IAS.
New Delhi: Every year lakhs of students appear in UPSC exam, but only a few thousand candidates get success. However, there are some students who write a new example with their success. A similar story is of 2019 batch IAS officer Garima Agrawal, who passed the UPSC exam in her first attempt and became IPS and achieved the goal of becoming an IAS in the second attempt.
92 in 10th and 89 percent in 12th
Garima Agrawal, a resident of Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, was very good in studies from the very beginning. Garima did her early studies from Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Khargone itself and got 92 percent marks in 10th. After this, she was successful in getting 89 percent marks in 12th also.
Internship in Germany after engineering
After 12th, Garima Agrawal got success in JEE exam and took admission in IIT Hyderabad. After doing engineering from IIT, Garima did an internship in Germany, but she did not take a job abroad and decided to come to the country and prepare for UPSC Civil Services.

Became an IPS officer in the first attempt itself
After returning from Germany, Garima Agrawal started preparing for the UPSC exam and took the exam after preparing for about one and a half years. She secured 240th rank in UPSC CSE exam in the year 2017 in her very first attempt and got selected for IPS.
After IPS, the journey of IAS was decided like this
Even after becoming IPS, Garima Agrawal was not satisfied and continued preparing for UPSC exam. Along with training, she continued to study at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Police Academy in Hyderabad. The very next year 2018, he took the exam for the second time and fulfilled his dream of becoming an IAS by securing 40th rank in his second attempt.

Garima Agrawal completed her training in the year 2019-2020 from Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie. At present, Garima Agarwal is posted as Assistant District Magistrate in Telangana.

How did Garima prepare for UPSC exam?
According to the report of DNA, Garima Agrawal told that for the preparation of UPSC exam, she did not prepare for Preliminary Exam, Main Exam and Interview separately and not together. He told that only submission of study material does not bring success, but revision has to be done. Along with this, it is also important to increase the speed of answer writing and give mock tests.
Different targets for pre-exam, main and interview
According to Garima Agrawal, she first targeted the pre-exam. However, along with this, he also prepared for the Mains exam, because there is no time for it later. It is important to keep checking your revision for mock tests. Giving tips to students preparing for UPSC exam, Garima said, “The most important thing to crack this exam is ‘patience and consistency’. During your preparation stay in touch with people who give you inspiration and positive energy. Along with this, it is better to stay away from people with negative thoughts. Failure or success both happen in our mind. If we are determined, we can achieve anything.
