The former MP was speaking to reporters outside the EOW’s office in South Mumbai where he arrived at 11 a.m. to record his statement in a fraud case for the second day in a row. Somaiya said, “Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has accused me of embezzling Rs 57 crore through Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut in the name of protecting the sale of unmanned vessels. I have not embezzled or misused up to 57 paise in my entire political life, but now Shiv Sena is making false allegations against me. “
Money deposited under ‘Save Sell’ initiative
EOW officials questioned Somaiya for three hours on Monday in a case involving embezzlement of funds sold by INS. Speaking about the investigation, Somaiya said, “I have provided information to the concerned authorities about the funds deposited under the ‘Save Sales’ initiative. The information is already public but as part of the investigation, I have presented it to them. “
On what basis did Sanjay Raut reach Rs 57 crore?
According to a former soldier, Mumbai police allegedly embezzled around Rs 57 crore collected through crowdfunding to save INS vendors from garbage and an FIR was lodged on April 7 to convert it into a museum. The Mumbai High Court on April 13 granted interim protection to Kirit Somaiya from arrest and asked him to report to the investigating officer of the case between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for four days from 18 April. Somaiya said, “The real question during the court hearing is on what basis Sanjay Raut has reached Rs 57 crore. What information do you have to give them the amount of 56 crore? They have to inform the court about this.
