SIT has arrested two other policemen who are absconding in Manish Gupta murder case from Gorakhpur. A reward of 1-1 lakh was announced on all of them. Even before this, the SIT had absconded 2 policemen.
Lucknow: In Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh (UP), two more policemen absconding in the murder of Kanpur businessman Manish Gupta were arrested by the police from Gorakhpur on Tuesday. A reward of one lakh rupees was announced on them.
4 accused arrested so far
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said that Sub-Inspector Rahul Dubey and Constable Prashant Kumar were arrested on the information of an informer. Both of them were going to surrender in the court of Gorakhpur. He told that the police is making efforts to arrest the rest of the accused as well. Earlier, on October 10, Inspector Jagat Narayan Singh and Sub-Inspector Akshay Mishra were arrested by the police. Both of them were suspended.

These two policemen still absconding
6 policemen were named in the FIR registered in the case and 4 of them have been arrested so far. Police said that Vijay Yadav and head constable Kamlesh Singh Yadav are still absconding. Last month, Kanpur businessman Manish Gupta (36) was allegedly thrashed by policemen at a hotel in Gorakhpur, leading to his death. Kanpur Police had earlier announced a reward of Rs 25,000 each for the arrest of all the 6 accused, but later it was increased to Rs 1 lakh each.

SIT is investigating the matter
Significantly, the Uttar Pradesh government had sent a proposal to the Central Government on October 1 recommending a Central Investigation Agency (CBI) to investigate the death of a Kanpur businessman after he was allegedly beaten up by policemen in Gorakhpur. The state government also decided that till the time the CBI takes over the investigation, the investigation of the case is transferred to Kanpur, where the Special Investigation Team (SIT) will investigate it.
